The Big Bad D...Walking for a cure!

Well it's that time of year again, November is diabetes awareness month. As you may know my daughter and I both are type 1 diabetics.

This year, I'll be taking part in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. I’m walking because JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight type 1 diabetes (T1D), a serious autoimmune disease that affects millions of people.

Type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. Currently, there is no cure. People with T1D must manage the disease by injecting or pumping insulin several times a day, every day. But insulin is not a cure, and it does not prevent the possibility of serious complications like kidney failure, blindness, and stroke.

We can reach a world without T1D faster with your help!

Raising money for the Walk is such a rewarding experience. Not only do you get the satisfaction of helping JDRF make a difference in the lives of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D)—you'll also have fun celebrating at the local Walk with our community!

The walk we are participating in for team LIFE OFF THE D LIST! takes place in Winston Salem, NC. While it's a beautiful 5k walk if you are unable to be in the area you can always virtually walk with us!

Our team goal this year is $5,000! The challenge we've set ourselves - to raise money for JDRF and to walk - is modest compared to the daily challenges of life with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.

I will also be having team t-shirts made, for a minimal extra expense, ordering the beginning of October to allow for shipping time.

Registering only takes a few minutes. Simply click “Visit My Team Page” below and then select the “Join Our Team” button to officially register. If you need any help, just let me know.

I hope you will consider joining me today! If you can't join us will you please support my commitment by making a donation today?
